Unless you count a 90-pound sheepdog named Banjo, there’s not really a “we” at Bolt & Forge. It’s just me — Jason Lilly. I spent nearly 20 years as a newspaper editor and designer, and since 2006 I’ve spent the rest of my time designing and building guitar effects and amplifiers.

I started Bolt & Forge because I love to make gear designed to last a lifetime. It amazes me that the people who built amplifiers 50 or more years ago can no longer be with us, but the gear they made still gets used every day and sounds great as long as it gets a bit of TLC.

When I design and build gear, I do it with the idea that it’s a tool — durable, easy to use and consistent. Great gear also inspires you to play and be creative, and I hope Bolt & Forge pedals can inspire you.
